Demi Moore has starred in countless films and TV series, and though she has been nominated for many distinguised awards, she has finally received one of the most prestigious honors: an Oscar nomination.
Moore received her very first Academy Award nomination at the age of 62 for her role in The Substance in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category. She is nominated alongside Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora) and Fernanda Torres (I'm Still Here).
Speaking to Variety, Demi shared her reaction, telling the publication, "I don't know that I'm quite in my body. Life has been full of contrast with all that's been going on, such incredible highs and devastating lows. Last night a new fire broke out in Los Angeles, and I was on alert all night because it wasn't that far from us. I'm feeling some deep humility on many, many levels."
She added, "I'm so grateful for the recognition. But it's not just for me, it's also about what The Substance represents. I'm here to be in service to something bigger."
Moore also received her first Golden Globe Award this year for The Substance, taking home the award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. In her emotional speech, she said, "Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress. At that time, I made that mean that this wasn't something that I was allowed to have. That I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged and I bought in, and I believed that.
She added, "In those moments when we don't think we're smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough or basically just not enough, I had a woman say to me, 'Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.'"
