A man is facing a lengthy prison sentence after pleading guilty to the murder of a woman in Syracuse, New York. On Tuesday (January 21), 21-year-old Jhon Moises Chacaguasay-Ilbis confessed to strangling 21-year-old Joselyn Jhoana Toaquiza at an Airbnb on Hawley Avenue. The incident occurred last year while the couple was celebrating Toaquiza's birthday.

After the murder, Chacaguasay-Ilbis moved Toaquiza's body to Lincoln Park, where he attempted to conceal it with sticks and leaves. Authorities discovered her body on June 22. In exchange for his guilty plea, Judge Ted Limpert has promised Chacaguasay-Ilbis a sentence of no less than 22 years, with a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. Chacaguasay-Ilbis will return to court next month for sentencing.

According to PIX11, the case has drawn significant attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and the young ages of both the victim and the perpetrator.
