Residents in Scriba, New Haven, and parts of Volney in Oswego County are under a boil water order due to two water main breaks in the Town of Scriba Water District. The Oswego County Health Department issued the order after the breaks, located off City Line Road and County Route 4, caused a loss of water pressure, raising concerns about potential contamination in the water supply.

Approximately 4,000 customers are affected, and residents are advised to boil water for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and washing dishes. The water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute and then cooled before use. Alternatively, residents can use bottled water certified by the New York State Department of Health.

Repairs are underway, and samples will be collected to ensure the water is safe. The boil water order is expected to remain in effect until at least Friday (January 24) after testing confirms there is no contamination. The health department will notify residents when the order is lifted.

For more information, residents can contact Town of Scriba Supervisor Kelly Lagoe at 315-343-3019 or the Oswego County Health Department at 315-349-3557.
