Brody Jenner recently opened up about his relationship with his dad, Caitlyn Jenner, sharing the current state of their bond after years of estrangement.

According to E!News, Jenner's mother, Linda Thompson divorced Caitlyn (then Bruce) in 1986 when Jenner was just a toddler. The Hills alum detailed his troubled history with Caitlyn on Wednesday's (January 15) episode of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.

"I'd randomly see him—'him' at the time—you know, here and there. But, mom would tell me that I would write on cards, 'Why doesn't dad call me on my birthday?'"

Jenner continued, revealing that his father became even more absent after meeting another woman.

"I had an incredible mother. Father, Bruce, at the time, wasn't around that much. They split, and then he met a woman. She had kids as well. The woman that he met ... they had kids together."

Caitlyn went on to have children Kendall and Kylie with second wife Kris Jenner and cared for stepchildren Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe Kardashian as his own. Brody, now a father himself, assured that he is "living" for his 17-month old daughter, Honey (whom he shares with fiancé Tiarah Blanco), and that he's going to do everything his dad didn't do.

Despite feeling "abandoned" by his father for so long, Brody gave some leeway to Caitlyn, clarifying that she was going through "a lot" when Keeping Up With The Kardashians was filmed, and that the constant camera attention made their chats feel "very invasive and not very genuine."

Caitlyn recently reached out to her son to apologize for being absent all those years, and the gesture went a long way with Brody.

"Just recently, I got a real, sincere apology. It was the first time in my life that I've ever gotten an apology. You know, I'm sorry for not being there, and honestly, it meant a lot."
