Hollywood, FL - A Florida woman is facing serious charges after allegedly causing a fatal crash that killed a road ranger assisting a driver on I-95.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a 45-year-old woman in connection with the New Year’s Day accident that claimed the life of 28-year-old Jose Parra.

She is facing 20 charges, including vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, and reckless driving.

According to investigators, the driver had a blood alcohol content at least twice the legal limit when she lost control of her BMW SUV in the southbound express lanes of I-95.

The crash triggered a chain reaction, fatally striking Parra as he was assisting at the scene of a previous accident.

Two Florida Highway Patrol troopers and another driver involved in the crash sustained minor injuries but were not seriously hurt.

The driver remains in custody as the investigation continues.
