TORRANCE (CNS) - A 33-year-old man from Harbor City riding a motorcycle was killed in a collision with a car in Torrance, police announced Wednesday.

Officers were sent to the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and 236th Street around 6:04 p.m. Tuesday regarding a collision involving a 2019 Jaguar and a 1992 Honda motorcycle, according to the Torrance Police Department.

Police determined that the Jaguar was traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard then made a left turn onto 236th Street, colliding with a Honda motorcycle heading northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard.

Torrance Fire Department personnel arrived at the location to examine the motorcyclist but pronounced him dead at the scene.

His name was being withheld by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner pending notification of relatives.

The 78-year-old man from Torrance driving the Jaguar was not injured, police said.

The northbound and southbound lanes of Crenshaw Boulevard between 235th and 237th streets were closed for over four hours as an investigation was conducted, police said.

The fatal collision remained under investigation Wednesday evening.

Anyone with additional information regarding the case was urged to call the Torrance Police Department Traffic Division at 310-618-5557.
