Dating Brad Pitt would be a dream come true for many women, but it turned into a nightmare for one French woman.

Of course, she wasn’t actually dating the actor, but a scammer pretending to be him convinced her that she was by sending her AI-generated images of Pitt. And when the fraudster claimed to need money for cancer treatments, she gladly gave it to them.

The scam started back in 2023, when the victim, Anne, received a Facebook message from the scammer. They first pretended to be Pitt’s mom, then started texting Anne claiming to be Pitt himself, and that’s when the “affair” began.

  • She was conveniently married to a millionaire at the time, but when the con artist asked her to marry him, she divorced her husband.
  • Anne first sent money to the scammer when they claimed to need it to send gifts they bought her through customs.
  • Then the pretend Pitt asked for money for cancer treatment and sent AI-generated photos and videos of Pitt in a hospital bed, claiming he couldn’t use his own money because of his ongoing divorce from Angelina Jolie.
  • Anne eventually sent the scammer more than $850,000, which she had thanks to her divorce settlement.

The “couple” only ever communicated through texts and Anne only realized she’d been scammed after seeing a photo of Pitt with his real girlfriend, Ines de Ramon. Anne’s been receiving treatment for severe depression at a clinic since a complaint was filed in 2024 and police are still searching for the scammer.

  • social media post shows the AI-generated images of Pitt the scammer sent to Anne.
