Wichita, Kansas, landscaper and social media creator Spencer Bosley, who goes by the handle SB Mowing, recently came to the rescue of Beth, an elderly woman struggling to maintain her overgrown lawn. After learning that the city issued her a warning and planned to charge her $240 to cut her grass, Spencer offered to clean up her property for free. Beth was moved to tears after her yard was transformed, sharing her gratitude in a video that’s been viewed nearly 2-million times.
Inspired by the overwhelming response, Spencer launched a crowdfund campaign to address accessibility challenges at Beth's home. The funds will cover a ramp to her front door, a new driveway, a chair lift for her basement, and repairs to broken windows. Additionally, he plans to secure a new bed and hire a company to maintain her yard for several years. The campaign received widespread support, quickly shooting past its initial $100-thousand goal.
As of this week, donations for Beth have exceeded $650-thousand, reflecting the generosity of Spencer's followers. In an update to the crowdfund page, Spencer says he plans to use the funds to improve Beth's living conditions, including creating a trust with the help of an attorney to make sure that the funds are protected and used appropriately. Beth expressed her amazement and gratitude for the support, saying, "Those are the things dreams are made of."
