Hollywood has been coming together to support each other as the devastating wildfires continue to ravage the city of Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel is the latest to offer tangible support for those displaced, as he and his late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live! have established a donation center. He returned to late night last evening with a much more sober opening monologue.
We are back with a new show after what has been a very scary, stressful and strange week here in Los Angeles with the fires, we thank the amazing firefighters and first responders for all of their heroic work, Guillermo almost had to evacuate to Jimmy’s house, so many companies and local restaurants have been pitching in to help out, we talk to Chef Susan Feniger & Chef Mary Sue Milliken who are working with World Central Kitchen to bring meals firefighters in the Pacific Palisades, there have been reports of looters showing up to go through people’s homes, Jimmy chats with actor Steve Guttenberg who has emerged as a hero in this mess, and we share some of the uplifting stories from our fire-ravaged town. He wrote on Instagram:
“Fellow Angelenos — if you’re looking for a way to help those affected by the fires, we have a donation center in our backlot in Hollywood. We will quickly distribute essential items to those who need them. Thank you for supporting and please spread the word to those in our neighborhood.”
The center is open every day this week from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at 6901 Hawthorn Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028, and they are accepting items including bottled water, Gatorade, baby food, pet food, non-perishable food items such as canned goods or individually wrapped snacks, like bags of pretzels or chips, new toiletries and hygiene products, new socks and underwear, diapers and baby wipes.
Listen for yourself.
