Lovely Reunion for Man Who Reconnected with Pet Dog During Fire Evacuations

Amid the destruction caused by the Palisades Fire, Casey Colvin experienced a heartwarming reunion with his beloved dog, Oreo. After evacuating his home, Colvin spent days searching for Oreo, who had run away when the evacuation orders were issued. His home was destroyed in the blaze, but with the help of a dog tracker, Colvin found Oreo Sunday, resting among the rubble of a neighbor’s property.

“I literally rescued them off the street,” a tearful Colvin told Kreutz about his dogs. “They deserve better than that. How do I get to my house?”

Overcome with emotion, Colvin coaxed Oreo into his arms, celebrating the miraculous reunion. The search for Oreo began when Colvin was unable to reach his home, and a firefighter rescued his other dog, Tika. Colvin posted fliers and NBC News Correspondent Liz Kreutz shared the search on social media. Thanks to the efforts of neighbors, a dog tracker, and a bit of luck, Colvin’s story ended on a hopeful note, with Oreo safely returned.
