President Joe Biden will make his final speech to the nation this week.
The president said he will deliver his farewell address from the Oval Office Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. CT, five days before President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated. Biden is also expected to speak Monday at the State Department to give remarks focused on his foreign policy legacy.
While speaking from the Roosevelt Room during a press conference Friday, Biden said he believes he would've beaten Trump had he not dropped out of the presidential race, but also wanted to "unify the party" by stepping aside and allowing Vice President Kamala Harris to be on the Democratic ticket.
"I think I would have beaten Trump, and I think that Kamala could have — would have beaten Trump," he said. "I thought it was important to unify the party. Even though I thought I could win again, I thought it was better to unify the party."
