The number of executive orders signed by President-elect Donald Trump on day one of his administration could be in the triple digits.
During a private meeting on Capitol Hill, Trump told Republican senators that he may sign more than 100 executive orders on January 20, with some of the more crucial ones having to do with border security and mass deportations. It's expected that Trump will rollback many of the Biden administration executive orders and go back to the U.S-Mexico border measures that were put in place during his first term. President Biden signed 42 executive orders over his first 100 days in office back in 2021, many of them reversals of Trump's policies.
The incoming administration and the GOP Congress are working border security measures into their big budget reconciliation legislation. Senators said finishing the border wall and setting up immigration detention facilities are a few items that make up around $100 billion in proposals. Trump's top adviser Stephen Miller helped outline the border security and immigration enforcement measures for the GOP senators.
Allies of the president-elect have been preparing a stack of Other executive orders prepared for Trump to sign on day one likely involve energy plans, school gender policies and vaccine mandates.
Trump's nominees for some top administration jobs are going through Senate confirmation hearings the week before Inauguration Day.
