The University of Oregon will build an acoustic research laboratory at a former marine terminal in north Portland.
The Port of Portland approved a lease for the facility.
It'll be located at the Mass Timber and Housing Innovation Campus at Terminal Two. The acoustic lab will be used to conduct tests on mass timber products designed at the campus.
The testing is necessary for code compliance. Currently, there's a lack of acoustic testing facilities.
