Don't Fall Into Peer Pressure From Friends During "Dry January"

You gave yourself a goal/resolution for the new year. You were going to slow down, or even stop drinking. But you still want to be social with your friends and not be alone in your place.

I've been sober for almost 4 1/2 years now, I can sit at a bar and it doesn't bother me at all. But some people have friends that say "come on, what's just one drink going to hurt?" and they're the ones that can kill your goal of Dry January.

Founder of Sober Girl Society Millie Gooch says you should have an honest conversation with loved ones, that way you could help rally support.

I hate telling people I don't drink anymore. Most of the time it's followed with an "I'm sorry." Why are you sorry? I'm the one that's going through this. Instead of making excuses like saying you don’t drink because you have to drive, just be honest about your intentional break from alcohol, Gooch suggests. That's kind of the path I've been on, just be honest with people about your thoughts/health, If you’re honest and friends still pressure you, it might be time to ask yourself some hard questions about the friendship.

Just saying. But if you're trying to quit drinking I fully support you! Message me if you have a tuff time. It's not a contest, because there is no ending to the race, and you're the one who can make your decisions, NOT your friends. Good luck!
