(Rock Island, IL) -- Investigators say two children were in the vehicle with Jakarta Jackson when he was shot by police Sunday in Rock Island.
Police say the 21 year-old wanted on an arrest warrant had tried to flee police on foot before returning to the vehicle and driving off, dragging an officer who was trying to stop him.
The officer reportedly fatally shot Jackson, and is now on leave pending an investigation.
Investigators have not said what relationship Jackson had with the children in the vehicle.
