McDonald's has become the latest major company to begin rolling back Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. They join other companies like Lowe's, Ford Motor Company, and Toyota, which have all recently rolled back their own DEI programs.

It looks like these companies are finally realizing that their customers just aren't interested in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. Political analyst Raven Harrison said that, "Consumers are doing what I always recommend they do, which is vote with their wallet. You've got to stop supporting companies that are pushing these agendas."

She said that consumers will be the ultimate determiners of how the ongoing battle over DEI goes. She advises that if companies can't support your values and can't provide you with good products, then you should just let them go.

Harrison went on to warn companies to continue steering clear of these costly DEI programs and policies. She said they should ask, "Is this what's going to sustain you? Is this what the shareholders want to hear? That you're losing money perpetually to try to keep pushing an ideology?"

In an open letter, McDonald's pointed to the recent SCOTUS ruling that banned DEI practices in college admissions as the reason they gave up on DEI. They said, "We also assessed the shifting legal landscape to anticipate how this ruling may impact corporations such as McDonald’s."

They also maintained that they're still committed to "inclusion" and will continue to report their demographics. You can read McDonald's full letter here.
