Popcorn buckets became a thing in 2024 . . . from the unintentionally sexual one given out for "Dune" to the popcorn CASKET offered at "Nosferatu" screenings.
But the Cinemark theater chain is taking things to the EXTREME. On Sunday, January 19th . . . which just happens to be National Popcorn Day . . . they're running a BRING YOUR OWN BUCKET promotion.
You can bring in any container you want, as long as it's "clean and sanitized" and can hold popcorn, and they'll fill it for just FIVE BUCKS. But if they decide it's not safe to use, they CAN deny you.
Oh, and there's a catch . . . because there always is: Your bucket can't be more than 400 ounces, which is about three gallons. Or, as Cinemark puts it: The size of two extra-large popcorns.
That's still a lot of popcorn for really cheap . . . but it destroys my dream of walking in with a keg tub and saying, "Fill 'er up!"
