Bay County, FL - A Florida woman’s attempt to purchase drugs went wrong when she accidentally texted a narcotics investigator instead of her dealer, leading to her arrest.
The Bay County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) reported that the suspect, identified as a 41-year-old woman, mistakenly messaged a BCSO narcotics investigator, believing she was contacting a drug dealer to arrange the purchase of fentanyl before leaving town.
The investigator, acting undercover, played along and set up a meeting with the suspect at a local gas station.
However, instead of finding her expected dealer, the suspect was met by officers from the BCSO Special Investigations Division.
She was promptly taken into custody and now faces several charges, including the unlawful use of a two-way communication device, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the investigation or the suspect’s intended plans.
According to BCSO officials, as of Tuesday, the suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
