New Orleans officials say the city will enjoy unprecedented security for Mardi Gras 2025 following the New Year's Day terrorist attack.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell and NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick say the Department of Homeland Security has granted the city a SEAR 1 rating, the highest security classification for special events.
Cantrell and Kirkpatrick made the announcement on Monday.
The federal support that comes with the SEAR 1 rating includes bomb-sniffing dogs, cyber risk assessments, air security, and tactical assistance.
