An investigation is underway after two students were stabbed outside the Abrookin Career and Technical Center in Albany on Monday (January 6). The incident occurred around 11:55 a.m. when the students were getting out of a vehicle near the entrance on Kent Street. Another vehicle pulled up, and a 16-year-old male suspect exited and began fighting with the students. The altercation resulted in a 15-year-old male being stabbed in the calf and a 16-year-old male being stabbed in the bicep. Both victims were taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to News10, the suspect, who knew the victims, fled the scene in a car but was apprehended by police near Green and Westerlo Streets shortly after. He faces charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The suspect was arraigned in Albany Family Court and released to probation supervision.
The incident prompted a brief lockout at both Albany High School and the Abrookin Center as a precaution. School officials are cooperating with the police investigation. No other individuals were harmed during the incident.
