----- Cade Cunningham and Tim Hardaway Jr. combined for 58 points as the Detroit Pistons topped the Portland Trail Blazers 118-115 Monday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI.
Chauncey Billups night in Detroit ends on a sour note!
Cade Cunningham scored a team-high 32 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. connected on 6-of-9 from three-point range as the Detroit Pistons use a hot-shooting second half to top the Trail Blazers 118-115.
All five Portland starters scored in double-figures led by Anfernee Simons. He scored a game-high 36 points. He connected on 8-of-12 from beyond-the-arc. Deandre Ayton recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds and Shaedon Sharpe finished with 20 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
Portland (12-23) built 22-point lead after opening the second quarter on a 17-0 run but Detroit (18-18) was able to trim the deficit to nine-points at 60-51 at halftime.
The Pistons completed their comeback with a 12-2 run to open the third. The rest of the game was a back-and-forth affair featuring 14 lead-changes and eight ties.
Portland opened the fourth on a 7-2 burst to take a seven-point lead at 97-90 but Detroit responded with eight-straight to take their first lead of the fourth at 98-97.
Malik Beasley hit a three-pointer with 53.1 seconds remaining giving Detroit a four-point lead at 114-110. Beasley would later miss a free throw with Detroit holding a 118-115 lead with 8.1 seconds remaining.
After a Trail Blazers timeout, Beasley forced a steal on Simons to seal the victory for the Pistons.
