(Polk County, IA) -- Polk County's extreme temperature plan is remaining in effect this week, with highs in the upper teens expected both Tuesday and Wednesday, and lows in the single digits.
Polk County Emergency Management says they're activating several warming centers, including at several public libraries and community centers. Free DART bus service will provide rides to the nearest warming location as long as the extreme temperature plan is active.
Activation of the plan also includes weather amnesty at area homeless shelters.
According to a press release, they've also created a new map to find the nearest warming center, along with warming center hours.
