Late in the game during Arizona State’s ferocious comeback effort against Texas in the Peach Bowl, the referees reviewed and decided against calling a targeting penalty on the Longhorns which would have given the Sun Devils a much needed first down and some added field position. And while most fans have been critical of the officials for missing the call, Doug thinks they made the correct decision and he explains why...
Doug Gottlieb: “In this particular case, it’s a player-safety call only. It’s not a...there’s no advantage gained on either side by like holding there is, or pass interference, or block in the back, etc., etc., etc. I think that one had to be egregious and I didn’t think it rose to that level.”
