The Tampa Bay Lightning (20-11-2) defeated the New York Rangers (16-18-1) 6-2 on Saturday night at Amalie Arena in the first game of a back-to-back at home for Tampa Bay.
Brayden Point scored twice for Tampa Bay, who also got goals from Nikita Kucherov, Ryan McDonagh, Anthony Cirelli, Jake Guentzel and Nick Paul. Point finished the game with three points, as did Kucherov (who had two assists in addition to his goal). Andre Vasilevskiy went 42-of-44 in net to earn the win.
The Lightning will now host the Montreal Canadiens in the second game of a back-to-back on Sunday. Puck drop from Amalie Arena is scheduled for 5:00 PM on Sunday evening.
