The Oklahoma Sooners came up short in the Armed Forces Bowl, losing to Navy 21-20.

The Sooners had a chance to win the game in the closing seconds after driving the field and scoring. OU went for 2 points, which would have given the Sooners a win, but instead they were stopped and ended up losing the game.

Oklahoma outgained Navy in total yardage, 433 to 318. The Sooners totaled 275 passing yards and 158 rushing yards. OU’s 433 total yards and 275 passing yards were its second-highest totals of the season (had 665 total yards and 284 passing yards vs. Maine).

Quarterback Michael Hawkins, Jr. completed 28 of 43 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns (all career highs) and rushed 17 times for 61 yards.

True freshman wide receiver Ivan Carreon led the Sooners with career highs of seven receptions and 72 receiving yards. He entered the bowl game with three catches on the season and no more than one in any game.

Oklahoma’s Armed Forces Bowl appearance marked its 58th bowl showing all-time, the fourth most nationally. OU made its 26th consecutive bowl appearance, which is the second-longest active streak in the nation (Georgia; 28).

Oklahoma is now 31-26-1 all-time in bowl games.
