Investigators Identify Victim Fatal North Omaha Crash

(Omaha, NE) -- Investigators are identifying the victim of a fatal crash Friday morning near N 16th Street and Pershing Drive in north Omaha. Omaha Police say the driver of a Toyota SUV, 25-year-old Eloi Canals Morales, was driving westbound when he ran a stop sign and collided with the side of the semi's trailer, which was headed southbound. Morales was transported to Nebraska Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries. The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Azizi Merriweather, was uninjured, but has been cited by Omaha Police for D-U-I drugs and the Nebraska State Patrol for an invalid CDL.
