Des Moines Police now say a Christmas Day shooting on the city's Northeast side is a murder-suicide.
They say evidence indicates a 60-year-old man shot his 53-year-old wife before shooting himself. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but later died.
Police originally responded to a home just before 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday in the 2900 block of E. 40th Court to investigate a shooting incident.
DMPD says this is the city's 17th homicide of 2024.
