Central New York is set to enjoy a White Christmas as snow blankets the region. Snow began falling last night and is expected to continue through the morning commute. Winter weather advisories are in effect for several counties, including Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, and Oneida. Most areas can expect two to four inches of snow, with some locations receiving up to six inches.

The National Weather Service predicts that the snow will be accompanied by bitterly cold temperatures, with wind chills dropping below zero over the weekend. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly by Monday (December 23) but will remain cold enough to keep the snow on the ground through Christmas Day.

According to Syracuse.com, the high in the Syracuse area is expected to be 34 degrees on Christmas, with no additional snow forecasted.

Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling due to slippery road conditions. The National Weather Service recommends slowing down and using caution while driving. For those venturing out, it is important to check the latest road conditions and be prepared for winter weather challenges.

Additional winter driving tips include keeping an eye out for snow plows, sharing travel plans with family or friends, and preparing your vehicle with essential winter supplies.
