Snoop Dogg Criticizes Lil Wayne for Kendrick Lamar Halftime Show Hate

Snoop Dogg is an important figure in hip hop. While he remains active in the music scene, he has achieved legendary status. His views are influential, which is why he is engaged in the ongoing discussions about Kendrick Lamar. As a West Coast artist, Snoop has supported Lamar during his battles with Young Money in 2024. He has chosen Lamar over Drake and is now backing him against another hip hop icon, Lil Wayne. Recently, Snoop even criticized Wayne during a podcast.

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre appeared on Drink Champs to promote their new album, Missionary. They discussed their friendship and the impact they’ve made together, including their relationship with Kendrick Lamar. Both Snoop and Dre have guided Lamar and defended him amid his dispute with Wayne. This feud started when Lamar was selected to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans, where Wayne is from. Wayne has shown disappointment with that decision, but Snoop thinks he is overreacting. Snoop stated, "This is a big event. You should just be happy that hip hop is getting this chance and not hate on others."

Having performed at the 2022 Super Bowl with Dre and Lamar, Snoop was puzzled by Wayne’s attitude. He feels no artist should expect a guaranteed spot for such events. Snoop remarked that he never felt entitled to perform during his own Halftime Show appearance. "People take many factors into account when picking who performs," he noted.

Although Snoop Dogg did not mention Lil Wayne directly, he expressed appreciation for JAY-Z for helping hip hop artists gain visibility on big platforms. He pointed out that before JAY-Z's involvement, hip hop artists weren't featured in the Super Bowl. Snoop then hinted to Wayne that he will have his turn in the future, whether it’s in 2025 or later. For two artists mentioned in Kendrick Lamar’s "wacced out murals," Snoop and Wayne have very different views on the Super Bowl situation.
