Former Amish Woman Became A Stripper

DW: I see my suggestions on that (ahem) website finally got some listenin' to!

Naomi Swartzentruber was raised in a strict Amish community but left her family when she was 17, in search of freedom and a life beyond the strict rules she grew up with. Two years later, she found herself unexpectedly on stage at a Minnesota strip club, launching a 20-year career as a dancer. Reflecting on her journey, Naomi says, "When I stepped on that stage, something came alive inside of me, like this empowerment and fire I didn’t know I had." Though her path from an Amish upbringing to stripping was unconventional, Naomi embraced the freedom and independence it brought, even as she battled with judgment from others and herself.

Now Naomi lives in Arizona with her partner and their child, sharing her story through her memoir and on her social media platforms, where she inspires others with her resilience. "I’ve found the freedom I went searching for, but it took me a long time and a lot of trial and error," she says. Today, Naomi uses her experiences to encourage others to carry on through challenges, adding, "I do not regret it because all the experiences I’ve had have made me the person I am today."
