Kacey Musgraves bared all in a muddy scene that appears in the new video for “The Architect.”
Musgraves premiered the desert visual on Wednesday (December 4). “The Architect” sees Musgraves expressing her appreciation for the world's simple (yet complex) beauty throughout the stunning ballad. It's one of 14 tracks that appeared on the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter’s album, Deeper Well, earlier this year. Musgraves released the project in March, and expanded it to 21 tracks on the deluxe edition, Deeper into the Well, in August. Musgraves’ fifth studio record also includes “Cardinal,” “Too Good to be True,” “Ruthless,” the title track and more.
“Was it thought out at all, or just paint on a wall?/ Is there anything that you regret?/ I don't understand, are there blueprints or plans?/ Can I speak to the architect?”
Musgraves stirred anticipation for her newest music video when she posted a sneak peek on Instagram on Tuesday (December 3), including a glimpse of the nearly NSFW scene in the mud. Some fans hailed the singer-songwriter “Kacey Mudgraves,” a “mud angel,” and said they wondered whether Musgraves was planning a music video for “The Achitect” when she quoted “am I shapable clay” on her Instagram story months prior.
