Raising a gentleman …

A single mom and content creator in San Diego has come up with a unique way to teach her 12-year-old son how to be a gentleman. In a TikTok video, Melissa Ann Marie explains that once a month she gives her son $50 and lets him plan a date for the two of them. She says it's all about teaching him manners, etiquette, and how to treat a future partner with respect and care. From planning the outing to opening doors to paying the bill, her son is learning all the essentials of being a thoughtful date. Plus, they get to enjoy some quality mother-son time together.

Comments to her clip were overwhelmingly positive, with people loving the idea and calling it "adorable," "sweet," and "the cutest things ever."

Some comments:

  • "This has me bawling," wrote one person. "Thanks for raising someone I won’t have to warn my 11-year-old about."
  •
  • "Why can’t all moms raise their sons like this?" commented another.
  •
  • "His future wife thanks you," wrote another.
