Queen Camilla thought she was suffering from a chest infection that began early last month, but the diagnosis turned out to be slightly more severe.
According to People, the beloved royal has been under the weather recently. What was initially ruled an infection, spiraled into pneumonia shortly after her visit to Samoa with King Charles III. The Queen revealed only yesterday (December 3) that she's been experiencing the lingering effects of pneumonia, causing her to miss a handful of recent events. Despite taking much needed time to heal, there are a few occasions she refuses to be absent from.
Camilla joined the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, for the Entente Littéraire Prize ceremony on Wednesday (December 4), standing out as the second literary event she's attended amid her struggle with pneumonia.
This was the first year for the ceremony, created to celebrate authors of "books aimed at teenagers and young adults."
The Queen had to miss an entire weekend of Remembrance events in November, but was sure to "meet with finalists of the literary Booker Prize" in London the following week. At the prize reception, the royal assured that she was "on the mend" with no idea at the time that she had pneumonia.
"I'm on the mend, these things always take a bit of time to get rid of. You think you got rid of it, they just sort of hang on for a bit."
