Trey Songz will have to cough up a massive check after a judge issued a ruling in a lawsuit stemming from a 2021 battery case.

According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, November 26, a judge in Las Vegas has ordered Songz to pay $11 million to Maryland Capitol police officer Tyrelle Dunn. Dunn was awarded the huge payout after he sued the artist to cover past medical expenses, pain and suffering, as well as punitive damages. The cop sued Songz after he was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in an alleged sexual assault case that involved Dunn's wife.

The incident reportedly happened after Trey Songz's 37th birthday party in Las Vegas in 2021. Songz allegedly brought a group of women to his hotel room at The Cosmopolitan. In his lawsuit, Dunn claimed that his wife was in that group and was allegedly held against her will. She reportedly screamed for help while she was inside the room. Dunn tried to save his wife but Songz and his security guards allegedly attacked him. As a result, he suffered from multiple injuries including scarring that prevented him from working and fractured eye sockets.

Dunn filed a civil lawsuit against Songz after a judge cleared the singer after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated the situation and decided not to file charges. According to Songz's legal team, there was insufficient evidence and inconsistencies found during witness testimony. The case was closed but LVMPD said they would reopen it if more evidence surfaced. Songz never responded to Dunn's lawsuit, which led to a default judgment against the singer.

As of this report, Songz has not commented on the new ruling.
