The Day Hell Froze Over For The Eagles

After the massive success of Hotel California, the Eagles should have celebrated by taking a long well deserved vacation, but like many of the bands of the 70's the record company wanted them back at work on a new album, so fresh off the road the Eagles started the arduous task of recording The Long Run. The making of the album and the tour that followed was the straw that broke their back which resulted in the near fight between Glenn Frey and Don Felder that ultimately rang the end of the band. In 1980, Don Henley would be quoted in an interview in response to the question when the band would ever play together again, his reply "When Hell Freezes Over".

For 14 years that prediction held true until, after their solo successes, the Eagles would come back together for a live recoding of their reunion concert titled, "Hell Freezes Over". the recording would be the second live album by the Eagles, featuring the band's lineup at the time of the Long Run, with Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit. Hell Freezes Over came with four new songs and eleven tracks in total. The concert was part of a special MTV Unplugged, and charted two Top 40 singles, "Get Over It" and "Love Will Keep Us Alive". The concert, also featured an acoustic version of "Hotel California", which received heavy MTV airplay, and with the four new studio recordings, would be the last to feature Don Felder, who eventually was fired from the band in 2001. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart, and sold over 9 million copies in the U.S. alone. The Eagles would start a tour, which would last from 1994 to 1996, becoming one of the most successful tours in music history!

Guess you can build a snowman in Hell nowadays.
