People Upset That Cemetary Is Going To Charge Admission To Visit

A cemetery in England is sparking outrage over charging to visit loved ones. The Garden of Remembrance in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent will be making the change beginning in January. There's about 1300 graves there and the cemetery opened 20 years ago. The site will require the purchase of a one-off VIP pass for visits outside normal operating hours. Visiting between 9 am and 3 pm Monday through Friday will continue to be free, but it’ll cost about $5 to visit a grave or cremation plot, and $10 per person to visit the rose garden.

Jason Taft owns the cemetery says "We are not locking people out. We are normally closed after 3. This VIP membership gives them access to the cemetery until 9pm when we would normally be closed.

Electric gates will stop anyone without a VIP pass from accessing the grounds. Families are already voicing anger over the rule.
