Hialeah Proposes Renaming Street To Honor President-Elect Donald J. Trump

Hialeah, FL - Hialeah city officials are moving forward with a proposal to rename a prominent road as "President Donald J. Trump Avenue" to honor the 45th president of the United States.

The plan aims to rename East 9th Street, a main thoroughfare in Hialeah, to commemorate Donald Trump's presidency.

Hialeah Mayor Esteban Bovo Jr., a vocal supporter of Trump, spearheaded the initiative, citing Trump's significant impact on the local economy and his popularity among Hialeah’s residents.

Supporters argue that Trump remains a highly regarded figure in the predominantly Hispanic city, which gave him overwhelming support in the 2020 presidential election.

Critics, however, question the appropriateness of naming a public street after a political figure.

The renaming proposal is currently under review and requires approval from the Hialeah City Council.

If passed, the city will join other areas in South Florida that have honored Trump, including Doral, where a street was renamed "Donald Trump Boulevard" in 2021.

Trump’s connection to South Florida runs deep, with his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach serving as a political hub and home base.

His policies and leadership have resonated with a large portion of the region's population, particularly among Cuban-American voters.

As the council deliberates, the decision will reflect not only on Trump's legacy but also on Hialeah's evolving political identity.
