Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has filed a lawsuit against a company owned by his father and brother for millions of dollars, KXAN reports.

Mayfield, 29, his wife, Emily, and their company, Team BRM, LLC, are listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court on November 22 against Camwood Capital Management Group and its subsidiaries failed to payout a settlement agreement of more than $12 million. The quarterback's father, James W. Mayfield, is the owner of the company and his brother, Matt, has an ownership stake.

Baker's attorneys filed a petition for Camwood's financial records between 2018 to 2023, as well as oral depositions from witnesses, in an effort to figure out where the money went in August 2023. The lawsuit states that a “confidential settlement and release agreement” drawn up in January 2024 had three separate fulfillments, the first of which was the repayment of about $11.7 million plus interest starting September 2024.

The reported settlement also called for en existing loan to be refinanced in order to aid the repayment, as well as Baker being granted access to the company's books and records. The company failed to meet all three prongs of the agreement prior to the lawsuit being filed.

The plaintiffs are seeking "no less than" $11.75 million plus interest, costs and attorney fees, as well as "any other relief that the Court deems just and proper" in relation to the lawsuit. Mayfield, a former Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall pick, is coming off a career renaissance with the Buccaneers, having signed a three-year, $100 million deal this offseason.
