Republican New York Congressman Mike Lawler claimed Gov. Hochul's suspension of Congestion Pricing was a cynical ploy to disrupt the local and national 2024 elections.
Lawler said, "The MTA is the worst-run authority in America. They have mismanaged their operation for decades; they are billions of dollars in debt. Congestion Pricing is being pushed by the MTA and Hochul because if they raise a billion dollars, they can then borrow $15 billion more. That's all this is about; it has nothing to do with congestion."
