Earlier this week, the Princess of Wales' team released a surprise video announcing that her annual “Together at Christmas” carol service will take place at Westminster Abbey on December 6th. This marks the fourth year of the event, which celebrates those who’ve shown exceptional care and empathy within their communities. The video shows the invitations being printed, topped with Princess Kate’s royal cipher, and stamped in gold, along with a note that “something exciting is coming.”

Kensington Palace revealed that around 1,600 guests will attend the carol service, including individuals recognized for their dedication to supporting those in need. The palace says this year's theme is inspired by the Christmas story, focusing on the values of empathy and kindness. Prince William and other members of the royal family are expected to attend, Princess Kate and Prince William's three children joined the concert, marking Prince Louis' debut at the event.

Princess Kate started the carol service tradition in 2021 to honor those who supported their communities during the COVID pandemic, and it has since become a yearly highlight for the royal family. Biographer Sally Bedell Smith notes that these appearances show the Princess’ important role in the royal family as a future queen.
