In addition to a nearly 2-hour meeting at the White House with Joe Biden, president-elect Trump also made two more surprise picks to be a part of his cabinet.
The first, not a complete surprise, with Trump selecting recovered Democrat, Tulsi Gabbard to serve as his Director of National Intelligence.
Gabbard, who along with RFK Jr. actively campaigned for Trump, said her goal in serving as part of Trump's cabinet would be to “help prevent World War III and nuclear war.”
But then shortly afterwards, it was announced that Florida, Congressman Matt Gaetz has been nominated to be Attorney General.
“Matt is a deeply gifted and tenacious attorney, trained at the William & Mary College of Law, who has distinguished himself in Congress through his focus on achieving desperately needed reform at the Department of Justice,” Trump said on Truth Social, adding “Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System,” Trump wrote, “Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department.”
Gaetz said in a post on X that it would “be an honor to serve” in that role. He also announced his resignation from Congress
