Miami, FL - A woman unexpectedly gave birth to a baby boy in the ticketing lounge at Miami International Airport on Tuesday.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the emergency just after 5 p.m. following 911 calls reporting a woman in the ticketing lounge near Checkpoint 1 on Tuesday evening.

As the mother delivered her baby on the ground, multiple agencies assisted her.

In the footage, the newborn is seen peeking from a blanket before being cradled by his mother, who was comforted by officers at the scene.

Paramedics arrived shortly after to transport the mother and baby to a local hospital.

Airport employees speculated that the mother, reportedly en route to another state, was between flights when her water broke, sparking curiosity about what might have happened had the birth occurred mid-flight.

As of late Tuesday, there have been no updates on the mother’s or baby’s conditions.
