Lend a Helping Can raises money for 12 New England charitable agencies to feed the Needy and Homeless.

 

FATAL FIRE IN HICKSVILLE SATURDAY NIGHT

A Saturday evening blaze in the village of Hicksville turned out to be a fatal fire. Hicksville Police, along with the Hicksville Fire Department were dispatched to an apartment above a local restaurant at 103 West High Street in Hicksville Saturday at 6:21pm. When crews arrived heavy smoke and flames were showing, but fire crews made entry due to reports of a body inside. A male subject was located inside the apartment, and despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.     The identity of that male subject has not been released at this time.       Assisting Hicksville Fire Department were crews from Sherwood, Farmer, and Life Flight.   The Defiance County Coroner, and Ohio Fire Marshall’s Office were also summoned to the scene.  The cause of the blaze is unknown, but being investigated.
