The elections seem to be very close, but "Race to The White House" is predicting that the Democrats have a nearly 70% chance of taking control of the House of Representatives. So, are Republicans actually going to lose the House in a blowout? Probably not.
Political analyst Vlad Davidiuk told KTRH, "Not only is that an overstatement given the current polling dynamics, but it's also an overestimation given the level of dissatisfaction people have felt with Congress."
According to Davidiuk, the more likely scenario is that we will see smaller margins of victory. Overall, he thinks that Republicans will probably hold on to, and even slightly expand their lead in the House.
Davidiuk said that this dissatisfaction, paired with Trump's strong momentum and domination of the news cycles, will likely help down-ballot Republicans outperform the polls. He said, "The national election does help influence lower ballot elections. The way people respond to the top of the ballot can have an effect further down the ballot."
He did warn that if Trump does retake the White House, but Democrats manage to win a majority in the House of Representatives, we'll likely see an extremely dysfunctional government.
