Rays Beat Red Sox To Win Final Series

The Tampa Bay Rays (80-81) defeated the Boston Red Sox (80-81) 7-2 on Saturday evening at Fenway Park. With the win, the Rays have won the final series of the season and have a chance to finish the season .500 if they win the series finale on Sunday.

Shane Baz (4-3, 3.06) set the pace, pitching six innings in which he allowed just two earned runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking one. Kevin Kelly worked the seventh inning, before Drew Rasmussen worked the final two innings to close this one out.

After falling behind in the first when Triston Casas hit a solo home run, the Rays offense had an answer. Junior Caminero hit a two-run homer in the third inning to take a lead they would not relinquish. Tampa Bay added four in the fifth to create some separation - when Boston got one back in the sixth, the Rays answered with a RBI single from Christopher Morel in the seventh that would make it a 7-2 final score.

The Rays now will look to sweep the Red Sox in the final game of the season on Sunday afternoon. First pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 3:05 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 2:30 PM on 620 WDAE.
