A 3.1-magnitude earthquake was reported in Texas on Friday (September 20), according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake was centered in Garden City at a depth of 9.8 kilometers (about six miles). The USGS said it received two reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication Saturday (September 21) morning.

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake was previously reported in Texas on Monday (September 16), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Ackerly at a depth of 8.2 kilometers (about 5.1 miles).

The latest Texas earthquake was reported one day after a 3.4-magnitude earthquake was reported in Kansas on Thursday (September 19), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Danville at a depth of 4.9 kilometers (about three miles).

The earlier Texas earthquake was reported hours after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake was reported in the Northern Mariana Islands on Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Saipan at a depth of 42.9 kilometers (about 26.7 miles).

The Northern Mariana Islands earthquake was reported days after a 3.4-magnitude earthquake was reported in California on September 13, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Malibu at a depth of 10.6 kilometers (about 6.6 miles).
