Uber has introduced a pair of new features to make the service safer for its users. One is rider verification, allowing users to confirm their identity by uploading a photo ID and taking a selfie, which provides a verified badge that can lead to quicker ride acceptance. The other is the "Record My Ride" feature which went live this week after a successful pilot and lets drivers record audio and video during trips, with encrypted files only accessible if needed for safety reports. These updates follow recent safety concerns, including incidents of violence against drivers.
