KCSO gets positive ID on purse snatching suspect after traffic stop scuffle

WALKER, Mich. -- An encounter with a purse-snatching suspect has resulted in some minor injuries to a Kent County Sheriff's sergeant.

It happened around 10 o'clock Thursday morning during a traffic stop in Walker. It was near a Meijer store in the area of Alpine Avenue and Hillside Drive.

Sergeant Kailey Gilbert tells WOOD Radio the 38-year-old driver of a black Dodge Durango got into a scuffle with the sergeant at the scene, and then ran away.

"Despite a lengthy search, the man was not located but we have positively identified him. And the Kent County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Walker Police Department and the Grand Rapids Police Department for their help," Gilbert said.

Anyone with more information should contact the Kent County Sheriff's Office at 616-632-6125, or Silent Observer at (616)-774-2345 to report information safely and anonymously.
