Hollywood, FL - A dramatic house fire occurred in Hollywood on Wednesday after a lightning strike ignited a transformer, causing a power line to fall onto a nearby home.
The fire took place around 5:45 p.m. on the 6800 block of Tyler Street, prompting a quick response from Hollywood Fire Rescue units.
Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud explosion and seeing a bright flash of light as the lightning struck the transformer.
The falling power line ignited the home, sending flames engulfing the structure.
Neighbors assisted an elderly resident to escape the burning building.
