We all know that prices have been higher, but now there’s a face when it comes to whom is partially to blame. According to court testimony from an “executive” with the Kroger Co. chain of grocery stores, prices on necessities like milk and eggs were hiked “more than needed to account for inflation.” In a March 2024 email to his higher-ups, Andy Groff, who is Kroger’s senior executive for pricing, admits to the exorbitant price hikes. This news comes as the federal government tries to “block the grocery chain’s purchase of rival Albertsons.”
